First Holy Communion is one of the three Sacaraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church. As we celebrate these sacraments, we draw closer and closer to Jesus Christ as we perfect our faith. As a child receives the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time, the whole Church rejoices with them as they can now join in this ultimate gift of love.
First Communion is usually celebrated in the spring of a child's second grade year. Leading up to the sacrament, there will be family catechesis classes, studying and discussions at home, and required Mass attendance.
First Reconciliation and a retreat held in the months prior to the event.
